International Day of the Disappeared, August, 30th, 2015

The ONU is concerned about the increase in cases of enforced disappearance, the Working Group on Involuntary Disappearances of the UN Commission on Human Rights expressed concern about the increasing number of cases of forced disappearance in the world.

"Victims of enforced disappearance, which is not known where they are and what their fate should not be recalled to our memory only once a year. Every day should be a Day of the Disappeared," the group said work.

For its part, the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva regretted the lack of political will to tackle this problem.
A hidden tragedy

In a report entitled Missing Persons - A hidden tragedy, the organization draws attention to the drama too often ignored experienced tens of thousands of families from Bosnia to Nepal, Georgia Sri Lanka.

"It is imperative to deal with this tragedy and help the families of missing persons to shed light on the fate of their relatives. Not knowing whether a loved one is dead or alive causes unspeakable anguish, anger and a deep sense of injustice, and prevents relatives to mourn and move on, "says Pierre Krähenbühl, ICRC director
