France-Colombia Year in 2017

The decision to organize a France-Colombia Year in 2017 was taken in January 2015 by the presidents of the two countries during the official visit to Paris of President Juan Manuel Santos. The objective was to strengthen bilateral relations in full swing in a very favorable context (peace process, economic dynamism) and thus give a new perception of France in Colombia and Colombia in France.

The aim of this initiative is therefore to strengthen relations between the two countries, to open up this cooperation to new disciplines and to modernize the image that the two countries can have of each other. The outcome of the peace process in Colombia, which puts an end to fifty-two years of war, opens up new perspectives that will be widely explored by the Year's projects.

The French Commissioner-General, Anne Louyot, is placed with the French Institute, operator of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture for Cultural Diplomacy. Fabián Sanabria, the Colombian Commissioner-General, is dependent on an Intersectoral Commission chaired by the Ministry of Culture and composed of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, the Ministry of Education and Office of the President of the Republic.
