1857 Sir Ronald Ross 'Discovered Cause of Malaria'

Ronald Ross was born in Almora, on the Indian subcontinent in 1857, the same year as the Sepoy revolt that led to the formation of British India. He studied medicine at St.Bartholomew's and entered the Indian Medical Service in 1881. One year later, he became interested in the study of malaria, determined to prove the hypothesis of Scottish physician, Sir Patrick Manson that mosquitoes were connected with the propagation of the disease.
